Swim & Diving Team

The South Jersey Diving Championships are completed.  The 3 meter championships took place at Downs Farm on July 17, 2007.  Woodcrest divers Ethan O'Neill took 1st place in his age category and his brother Josh O'Neill took 3rd place in his age group.

The 1 meter championships took place on July 19, 2007, at Brookside.  All of our 1 meter qualifiers did well. It was a job well done by our head coach, Courtney Kayser, her assistant, Hayley Cohen, and all the members of the Woodcrest dive team.

Congratulations to divers Erica Atkin, Sassy Fallon, Jacqui Fucheck, Bridget Linchuk, Andew Loewenstern, Ethan O’Neill, Josh O’Neill and Slyvia Strauss.

The Tri-County swimming championships took place on August 4-5 at the Erlton Swim Club. The championships are a chance for the 36 swim clubs that are part of the Tri-County Swimming Pool Association to showcase those swimmers who achieved the qualifying times throughout the summer swim season.

Woodcrest had 20 swimmers, who qualified for individual events and compete on Saturday in the preliminary heats. Of those 20 swimmers, five placed in the top 12 and earned the right to swim on Sunday in the finals. Here are the final results:

· Lauren Kerner place 6th in the 8 & Under girls freestyle and 6th in the 8 & Under backstroke.
· Katie Doyle place 12th in the 8 & Under girls breaststroke and 3rd in the 8 & Under butterfly.
· Lydia Huber place 12th in the 12 & Under girls individual medley and 8th in the 11-12 Girls freestyle.
· Marlee Ehrlich places 5th in the 13-14 Girls individual medley and 5th in the 13-14 girls freestyle.
· Jamie Platt placed 9th in the 15-18 girls individual medley.

Congratulations to these 5 swimmers on their showing at the championships and to all the Tri-County qualifiers and swim team members for the 2007 swim season! And a special Thanks to our coaches for all their hard work this season: Catherine, Dana, and Jeff.
