Candidate: Steve Merch
Personal Background: Along with my wife (Kristina), am the proud parent of 3 daughters – Karolyn (8 years old), Angela (6 years old) and Laura (18 months). My wife and I have been residents of the Woodcrest section of Cherry Hill for 10 years and members of Woodcrest Swim Club for 7 years. I like the physical set-up of Woodcrest, feel the grounds are well kept and in general find it to be a family friendly environment. However, I am concerned with the recent decline in membership as this year Woodcrest is at about 60% of its peak capacity.
If elected to the board my goal for Woodcrest Swim Club is: Grow bondholder membership
Methods to Achieve Increased Bondholder Membership:
1) Improve Customer Service. The first step is by hearing from other bondholders about the good and not so good at the swim club. I envision sending out simple questionnaires through email to gain feedback concerning the pool and how it could be improved.
2) Improve Communications with Bondholders. Utilize email to relay the results questionnaires, publicize board meeting discussions and advertise upcoming pool related events.
3) Explore cost savings. Look into the possibility of working with other Cherry Hill pools to leverage buying power of supplies. Explore general fundraising ideas.
4) Make Swim Team More Competitive. Woodcrest has a fine number of athletes. We should be better than two consecutive years of 1 win and 4 losses in the “E” Division.
My family and I enjoy Woodcrest Swim Club and look forward to it opening every Memorial Day. I want to make sure it stays economically viable so current members as well as future families are able to enjoy all that it has to offer.
